Shakib Al Hasan made a new feat in international cricket on July 11, 2023 in Bangladesh vs Afghanistan One Day International in Chattogram. The delivery of 14.2 over by Afghan pacer Abdul Rahman to Shakib Al Hasan was short of a length outside off stump. Shakib Al Hasan played the squat cut quite strongly but the shot was not under his control. Afghanistan wicket-keeper Rahmanullah Gurbaz dived to capture the ball but the ball lightly ‘teased’ him over the side and into the boundary for four runs on the scoreboard. By this 4 runs off an uncontrolled shot Shakib Al Hasan has reached a great milestone of the ‘double club’ of 14000 runs and 600 wickets in international cricket.
Shakib Al Hasan is the first player to reach the double of 14000 runs and 600 wickets. There also two double clubs of 12000 runs and 600 wickets as well as 13000 runs and 600 wickets have been created by Shakib Al Hasan; there is no all-rounder having these records.
In 2021, Shakib entered the 12000 runs club in international cricket in the second ODI against Zimbabwe in Harare. He has yet to take 600 wickets (583) across three editions. In October that year, in the first round of the T20 World Cup against Scotland, Shakib met the ‘double’ by reaching the milestone of 600 wickets.

Among all-rounders, no one comes close to South Africa’s legend Jacques Kallis in runs across three editions. Kallis scored 25534 runs and he took a total of 577 wickets in international cricket across all three formats.
Only Kallis, Shahid Afridi of Pakistan, and Shakib were in the ‘double’ club of minimum 500 wickets and 11 thousand runs. Ever since Shakib surpassed the record of Kallis’s 577-wicket haul against Zimbabwe on July 16, 2021, nobody has been able to catch him. Shakib alone from the ‘double club’ of at least 12000 and 600 wickets! After 13,000 and 600, it is natural for Shakib to acquire alone in the ‘double club’ of 14,000 and 600.
